Hey everyone! Just wanted to get something out to you and share some updates.
Last week was quite fruitful. I was able to get some good writing done with Warhawk. Not quite as much as I wanted, but still was nice to be able to take my time and not rush things. It feels good every time I take a week off and just focus on my writing. It gives me a good idea of what it must be like to be a full time author, and damn do I dream of that day. Lots of things to do in the interim but it is still nice to dream. Dreaming inspires my creativity. Which leads me to the next topic…
For those of you who have not heard, Marcus Sloss has been working on a virtual novel for the last couple of months and he just finished it. I haven’t played it yet, they are still working on cleaning up some bugs. When he was originally talking about the project, him, I, along with many others, discussed everything needed to complete it. I used to be a programmer and played a lot of VN’s over the years.
The days we spent theory crafting fueled a desire for me to see how much was involved in creating something like that. Marcus encouraged me, like he always does, to make a game as well, since I told him it was something I always wanted to do. I knew I couldn’t because if I did, it would have consumed all my time and I would never finish Warhawk or The Aspect. I told myself that once I published a few books and confirmed to myself that I could write a decent story, I would consider it. However, that discussion was one thing that led me down the path of creating A Romp. I started with A Romp because I believe in the type of storytelling that it does. It also gives me a chance to work in more of a collaborative environment with all these moving parts that are common in game dev.
Now that I have an understanding of writing, production, and VA work, it’s time to tackle the other two pieces: art and programming. I assume most of you are familiar with Daz rendering. It’s used for a lot of artist’s book covers. Tamryn and Xander both use them. Well… it’s also used in VN’s and comics. My shelves are full of comics and graphic novels, more so than traditional books. Another thought is using the renders to build NSFW comics and sell those.
Like many of you, I am a dreamer and like to let the winds of inspiration take me wherever I want to go. I don’t know where that will be over the coming months, but it all sounds fun. I’m not saying I am done writing novels. I have a ton of stories I want to tell, but part of me wonders what if those stories were more interactive and visual? While I continue to play in this sandbox and finish my current projects, I’ll continue to upload fun little scenes as I learn and grow with the tools.
Thanks for listening to my midafternoon ramble. I’ll be picking up with Warhawk chapter 15 tonight, and should have a final chapter from the editor soon. I’ll also be refreshing audible every day until The Aspect book 3 goes live. If you see it before I do, definitely reach out! Those of you who had a holiday weekend, I hope it was restful. For everyone else, I hope you had a good weekend and an even better week!
side note – This art won’t replace the current art I commission, just think of it as a bonus from me exploring my creative spirit.
